J. Slade Edwards grew up in Macon, Ga. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Business Administration and a major in Risk Management. After college, Slade received his law degree from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. In law school, Slade was lead counsel for both the Moot Court intrastate team and the school’s team that competed in the nationwide ATLA trial competition. He also received The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Legal Writing and was recognized for Dean’s List.

After law school, Slade accepted an associate position with Martin Snow in Macon, Ga. where he specialized in defending insureds from personal injury automobile cases. In 2008, Slade accepted a position as House Counsel for Progressive Insurance Company where he was promoted to manager in his first year. After four years of managing the Macon office and defending cases against Progressive insureds in middle Georgia, Slade returned to Martin Snow. He took the trial experience gained at Progressive and joined the firm’s medical malpractice section. As a member of the medical malpractice section, Slade defended healthcare providers from malpractices cases, several of which were tried to verdict. Slade made partner at Martin Snow in 2014 and was the lead partner chairing the medical malpractice section when he left the firm in 2019.

In 2019, Slade accepted a partnership offer from Hall Booth Smith and joined the firm’s South Carolina office. There, he was a member of the firm’s medical malpractice section and he continued to defend healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases. In 2020, Slade joined Moody Legal Counsel where he now represents plaintiffs in personal injury cases identical to the cases he spent 16 years defending. Over the course of his career, Slade has tried countless automobile cases and a half dozen medical malpractice cases to verdict. Slade has obtained defense verdicts on behalf of every healthcare provider he has defended through trial. He has never lost a medical malpractice trial.

Slade’s experience and success in defense of healthcare providers uniquely qualifies him to represent victims of malpractice who have legitimate claims. He has worked for all the major insurance carriers in the field, he knows expert witnesses in nearly every medical specialty, and he knows how to persuasively pitch your case to your healthcare provider’s insurer. If your case does not settle, Slade has the experience and skill to prevail in a jury trial.
